This enable from any screen screws up video recording on occasions because the mic is being used by Google search.

It's worked on my device since 4.4.2 and doesn't really drain the battery all that much. I keep it on all the time simply because I use it allot, and I didn't really notice a significant increase in battery life when I disabled it. IMHO, it's definitely worth the slight increase in battery that it may use. Nice to see this option available on more devices.
