Encryption

I was thinking of using the encryption feature on the Samsung but was not sure about how it works

1) Does it encrypt all files and data when the screen locks or only if the phone is turned off?

2) Does it make the phone much slower or cause issues with apps?

3) If I encrypt the phone, do I need to enter both the screen lock and encryption password everytime

4) Is it possible to change the encryption password?

5) I read some forums which say the encryption is irreversible. Is that correct?

Thanks

Hi,
I just implemented encryption so I can answer some of your questions.
1) As i understand the memory is encrypted but you only enter the encryption password when you power up the phone.
2) In theory there is a performance. I understand that the encryption/decryption occurs on the fly but I haven't noticed any performance hit... but I'm on a new S4.
3) Yes, but the encryption password occurs when powering up.
4 & 5 I'm trying to get answers on myself.

Tom

Thanks for sharing your experience. I just want to clarify that you only enter the encryption password when you power the phone.

If the screen locks, you are only entering the screen unlock pin and not the encryption password as well?
