EVRC-B after update

I haven't seen this addressed before. I don't know if this is a gingerbread issue or a liberty issue. I used the deoxed TBH app to move to .596 and am running liberty .07. While I was on .595 I discovered that the clarity seemed much better after I programmed the change to EVRC-B. After making the change to .596 and upgrading to lib .07 I checked and saw that the phone had reverted to EVRC. Using the same procedure as before I am able to change to EVRC-B but it reverts every time I format. (The instructions that I've gleaned from the various forums call for a format after making the change). Is this a known issue? Is there any way to get the evrc-b programming to take? Does it even matter? Thanks for any insight.

I think it's a Gingerbread issue, I'm pretty sure other threads have said that the setting doesn't persist after a reboot.
