Excessive Heat(50'C) from none root 2.1

I am not rooted and I have Seidio cover.

When I use Remote Desktop app, my phone gets really hard and it is easy to hit 45'C.

Today, when I checked my phone by using Rmote Desktop app, my phone's temp was 50'C.

It is sure that Seidio case is blocking heat dissipation but I do not want to remove this protection.

What is maximum temperature that I can keep my droid running and what would be a good way to make droid cooler without removing case?

My phone has been hitting the 140 degree Fahrenheit range for a couple months now. If I remember correctly the safe operating range can go as high as 185 F. Someone correct me if that's wrong.

Mine seems to run a LOT hotter after 2.1 myself.. I run completely stock, no overclocking, no rooting... No empirical data, just knwo it feels a lot warmer.

I have been having heat issues with the cyanogen ere81. right now just doing some light browsing and using tapatalk, im at 40C

The processor in the phone is rated to 80 degrees celcius which in Fahrenheit is 176 degrees. Now the battery on the other hand is a different story. Most people say that 40c or 104 F is about the acceptable max. Check around there are a few threads on it.

Ok... on desk idle.... 26c/78f.. just slightly above room temperature... mild web surfing for 5 minutes, 40c/104F... 20 minute phone call from idle 45c ..... running maps for 15 min... 48c

... again, stock, no mods, no root, no overclock 2.1 flash

Can someone who is running stock, using TempMonitor to get readings.... tell me if what I'm seeing is normal, or do I need to fight with Verizon to swap me a new phone... I've only had this one for a week and a half now, and if there is a problem, I want to nip it before the 30days is up.

Taking it back to top, as my edit of previous post inquiring information from other stock users, did not automatically 'bump' the thread. I really want to know if I need to deal with a return at this point, or i'm just noticing something that has been happening all along.

The OMAP SoC in the Droid is rated to 70c. I hit 50 after about 20 or 30 minutes of hard use. Particularly when hitting 3G really hard. It's no big deal. I have had my Droid hit 55c a couple times when streaming Pandora and playing a marathon HomeRun 3D game on the way home on the train (about 25 minutes). It is way within operating range so I wouldn't worry about it at all.

I know a lot of guys like to overclock, and play with new kernels etc... perhaps if I had the disposable income for a second phone, I would if i fried something... but going thru a divorce, gotta keep it stock for warranty porpoises I do love the phone tho...even stock it blows my old LG EnV Touch away!

OK. Running at STOCK speed with a LV kernel I hit 50c - 55c under vey heavy usage, especially when charging. When OC'ing my Droid to 800Mhz - 1Ghz I hit 50c to 55c under very heavy usage, especially when charging. In both cases stock speed and OC'ing I hit the same temps. In either case I am well below factory max range. Also note that the 70c MAX temp is suggested retail max. When looking at the OMAP SoC in the Droid the actual MAX extreme operating temp by T.I. is 100c. Not that I would ever suggest anyone even trying to get there but it is in their documentation.

One Thing I do to decrease the temperature is sliding keyboard out.

It seems to have little bit of cooling effect.
