"Our source has informed us that Android 5.1 will be launched by the end of February 2015, and a second, completely separate source that is also privy to important information regarding Android updates, confirmed it. Not only that, this is allegedly a rather large update with many interesting new features! See the changelog below:"
  • Silent mode added after missing on Android 5.0
  • General improvements in system stability
  • Improved RAM management
  • Fixes for sudden app closures
  • Improved battery management
  • Excessive consumption of network devices when used Wi-Fi fixed
  • Issues with wireless connections fixed
  • Problems with Okay Google function solved
  • Notifications problems solved
  • Some sound problems experience by certain devices fixed
  • Other improvements and changes
  • Changes in the Material Design color palette (after users complaints, possibly for a higher version though)Exclusive Android 5.1 release date and improvements revealed - AndroidPIT

Well, pleased and disappointed are the mixed emotions I'm feeling. I would have liked to see the update sooner but I'm glad that they've concentrated on resolving known problems rather than pushing a half-baked update that creates problems.

I'm with Fox, seems like a bit far off for the Flagship (newest) Droid.... Oh well

So I clicked on the link in what you posted . What phone are they talking about ? That could be for any newer phone produced this year . The way you wrote this you make it sound like it's the Turbo. I'm hoping for sooner than February.

Just makes no sense why Google insists on pushing out these major updates that are half baked at best. They've been doing it since Gingerbread.....why break tradition I guess.

S5 tap'n

When is the Turbo going to get the 5.(?) update and which one is the big question out there. I didn't mean to offer the information to say the Turbo was going to skip over 5.0.1 or .2 and go 5.1. the last update Info. offered by Moto. was the Turbo was getting the update of 5.(?) in the near future of 2014. These "SmartPhones" have made us a bunch of update junkies, When am I going to get my next push? LOL.

I think the confusion here stems from the fact that this was posted in the Turbo forum, and people may have thought this information was somehow Turbo related. Evidently this is general information with no direct correlation to a specific phone.

Sent from my Droid Turbo

My advice to anyone who may not have experienced a "Big" update - sometimes Not the Best thing that will happen to you that day.
Just sayin.......

Agreed... I'm going through withdrawal right now and it's a drag!

Updates can be like going back out on a "Date" with the "X" (and I don't mean motoX) ....
seems like a great idea, you're looking forward to "it" then afterwards you're like......
Uggghhhhh I can't believe I did that. Why didn't I just "Decline" Now What!
