I used the official AIM app to guide my mom through some simple stuff on facebook via my Droid and it works like a champ.

Also, bloo, a Facebook app that gives you actual notifications of comments/etc. Will soon be integrating facebook chat. That'll give you all of your Facebook stuff in one app for the most part!

Just download it and follow the setup instructions. It lists aim and facebook contacts and even has a news feed type of thing that you can integrate with a twitter account as well.
