Factory Reset?

You might need to do it from Terminal. I can dig up the instructions for the D1 -- I doubt they're in much different of a locale to clear out.
 
Clear your cache, reboot. Your Dalvik is gummed up so hard I'm not surprised you're having problems.

Update... I have wiped all the caches again, and am now seeing a slight improvement. I have long way to go, but this helped a bit. Thanks.

Update again... After wiping the caches I have seen a HUGE improvement. My phone is quite speedy again and I have not had to change much else or uninstall too other apps. Thank you so much for your help.
