Feature you are looking most forward to with ics and the galaxy nexus

Haha! No kidding. Then the sales rep won't have the chance to install Advanced Task Killer for me.

the nexus is that awesome that it just rejects advanced task killer. if a sales rep tries to install that on mine, id be like "what are you doing with my phone". this time i am aware. last time, nobody was, i went back a few days after i bought my d1 and said the battery life is terrible and theyr like "well are you using atk" i said "yes"... didnt wanna release that announcement earlier google?

and heres what im looking forward to with the gnexus- smooth ui meaning that when i click on something, i want 0 lagg. a properly working headphone jack (cant wait!!!), and ofc the big screen.

Coming from the OG Droid, this will be quite a jump ahead in tech. I'm looking forward to:

1. First and foremost, Unlocked bootloader
2. Beautiful; no logos on the front.
3. A usable camera; no shutter lag!!!
4. No more capacitive buttons.
5. Huge, beautiful, crisp HD screen.
6. I think OG owners would agree, 1gb of ram is going to be a breath of fresh air. Finally multitasking I wish I always had on the OG.
7. Again, OG owners, dual core processor is going to be amazing
8. LTE speed
9. NFC
10. Front facing cam
11. Beam and face unlock - these seem like gimmicks, but I'm still looking forward to them
12. The new look of ICS.
13. No lag.
14. The list could go on...

heck yeah... OG here too, and I hate getting warnings about internal memory low.

Have to wonder though, If someone has never rooted their phone or done custom stuff, does this phone make sense? Everything from people seems to be based on the ability to place your own software or custimized programs on the phone. I never did that with my OG and life has been fine for two years. and if ICS is coming to everyone else in the next 4 months, does a slower processor speed out of the box work best? I was all over this bandwagon, but now having second thoughts. :(

My thought on this is yes, it absolutely makes sense. Sure, most devices will get some form of ICS (eventually, could take longer than expected), BUT, when updates roll out, the Nexus will be first to get them. I only rooted my OG in the first place to fix/have things on my phone that Verizon wouldn't update/give me. Eventually, Verizon abandoned the Droid for newer phones and killed all software updates. This will not happen with the Galaxy Nexus because Verizon is not in charge of updates, Google is.

The Nexus will have have Google's full support for at least the next two years. This means timely updates for as long as we own the device. Also, the Nexus and ICS out of the box adds a ton of features that have been added to a lot of custom roms. My hat's off to Google for paying attention to what a lot of devs are doing. There's a very good chance I'll root this device (just because I can) and possibly never feel the need to install custom roms or kernels.

As far as the slower process speed, this was a choice by Google and Samsung. They underclocked the processor down to 1.2 from 1.5 to effectively balance performance and battery life. Don't be dismayed, this thing absolutely flies at 1.2ghz, and performs as good or better than most phones out at the moment. Remember, this is dual core 1.2, not the same 1.2 your may or may not have attempted on your single core OG Droid ;)

But I guess you're still rocking your OG at 600mhz right? I'd be willing to bet the Nexus will completely blow your expectations away...

I am beyond ready to have my expectations blown away :icon_ banana:

I feel like a four year old little kid on Christmas morning and my parents won`t get out of bed

Yep, I'm fine with Google underclocking the cpu. And using a 5mp camera. Someone finally going for quality not quantity! :D

Judging by the reviews, I think the camera is something we're going to have "learn" how to use to achieve good pics. Sounds like quality is all over the board. I'm hoping a few setting tweaks will be all it needs.

Oh boy, at least I hope that it's not going to be the "learning" the Bionic required! ;)
