Can someone tell me why it took so long for DroidX to get on the Cyanogen bandwagon?

Can someone tell me why it took so long for DroidX to get on the Cyanogen bandwagon?

Simply put, lock bootloader prevented Cyanogen mod to run on the DX until now.
