How do you root a phone that is not out and available?

The phones are out there, they're just not available to the public yet. I'm pretty sure P3Droid already has the Galaxy Nexus. They have sources that get them the phones before any one else.

Because the phone is released to some as a test phone/pre release model.

I preordered my phone. Diggin it fo sho, but i tried the one click root for the Motorola devices and it doesnt work. It reboots every time, but its just not rooted and doesnt have Superuser

All things will root I think stock recovery is like battery pull on Razr someone in Bionic thread knows what buttons to push

I had to burn up one of my upgrades, but I am looking into a few things to pick up a RAZR for development. If it all works out... Keep a eye out here for ROMs.

Let me get to work on it. If anyone is up for testing, and I mean being my proxy tester until I get the phone... Shoot me a email. Get some deodexed, init.d support, custom sysctrl and debloat going for the first round.

I'm more concerned about not being able to remove the battery than the bootloader. I could be happy with just having a rooted razr. The things that bother me about the nexus is the no sdcard slot and cheap build (plastic and screen).

I want one but agree...
