FIX - Audio streaming (quality issues)

droid x

im surprised that nobody seems to be complaining about the audio quality on the droid x...the droid x has the same quality issues even running android 2.1 that the droid has running 2.2. probably because people with a droid x don't have anything to compare it to...anybody else have this issue with the x? anybody know if the root cause is the same?

I first changed the -http setting to false, rebooted, and Pandora still sounded horrible. I set the -player setting to false and it sound good like it did with 2.1 ROMS....

I'll try it again, but it seems using the open core player is the only thing that will really improve the quality...

Changed player to false and wow what a difference, Pandora sounds great again!

I also think one of the delays on Froyo now is due to this issue, thousands of people will complain about poor sound if Google doesn't fix this....they can't afford to have any isues with this release IMO. Google needs to work a little closer with the hacking community so these things can be ironed out sooner instead of later. Lots of people knew the sound took a nosedive once Froyo Roms came out, but non of the leaks ever had a fix.

That's strange, I just played around with that this morning and I thought after changing the http to false my audio quality still sounded good.

Duuuu,

I tried it again and the -http=false option does seem to work. I am pretty sure I forgot to re-boot after I changed it originally.....

Sorry about that....

LOL - can't say I've never/done that :)

In the past I used Slacker to stream audio in my car. Totally went to crap on Froyo (Sapphire 0.8.4). Setting the stagefright player to FALSE improves audio somewhat, but it's still not as good as it was on 2.1

The Stagefright fix fixed the Sirius XM app (no more looping) but now I've discovered it broke the playback of videos on the mobile YouTube site. Grrrr. Is anyone aware of a fix that will: 1. fix the looping issue on the Sirius XM app AND b. allow me to use the mobile YouTube site?

I was able to "fix" the build.prop file once it was on my sdcard, but now I cant move it back to the system folder using Astro....Do I need to be rooted in order to get this file back where it needs to be?

Are you not rooted and running Froyo?
I think the only way you'll be able to edit build.prop is with root.

I never actually sat down and did a root...what I did was the manual update, which was posted here by someone. Since then I've been having this loop issue. I have astro and am able to edit this file once its on the SD card, but I'm trying to copy and paste back into system folder (thru astro) but its not allowing me to update my build file. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the fact that I'm running the free version of astro.

You HAVE to have root. The reason why us because you need to be able to mount your /system drive as read/write, when your not root the /system is read only.

Yeah, what he said ^^

Just go ahead and root - this way you get the benifit of 2.2 with fixed audio PLUS SO MUCH MORE :icon_twisted:

Ok I just checked and mine is already on FALSE, so I decided to enable it, and besides the quadrant score being what is suppose to be nothing changed...mine works both ways but I left it on TRUE just cause of the score...
