For those on the fence about getting a razor, just picked one up...

Have had my RAZR since launch and its a good phone. Only 2 real complaints. Bootloader will remain locked (which makes this phones feature bleak) and the width. this phone is wide. Too wide, i can never reach the settings softkey or the upper left corner of the phone. it is physically discomforting. I will be returning this for a Gnex, but for all of those that do stick with this phone, you should have no regrets.

If you think the Razr is too wide, the GN may be as well. The Razr is only about 1mm wider than the GN. The added thickness of the GN may make it feel just as wide. Personally, I don't like the thinness of the Razr. It feels like I'm holding a graham cracker in my hand. I'm thinking that I may like the feel of the slightly thicker GN. I'm just not convinced that I'll like the plastic feel.

I did notice the blueish tint when looking at the screen off angle. On "Automatic" brightness the screen was not nearly bright enough. I turned it up to about 80% and it looked good. Not sure what that does to battery life.

The good news is that the Pen Tile screen will consume less battery then others. But turning the screen up will adversely effect battery life. The better choice would be to toggle 4g on and off as you need 4g. You might think of it this way... dim the screen and turn on 4g. Turn off 4g and turn up the screen.

Have you seen the amount of development for Droid X? You may want to peruse the Droid X ROM section in this forum. It's amazing how misunderstood the locked bootloader "issue" is...

love the razr. very good device and the smart actions were a stroke of genius.

Yes the X received lots of developer love with a locked bootloader, but with the limitation of the stock kernel and radio (baseband). the OG droid and the thunderbolt exemplify what advantages can be realized with an unlocked bootloader. the amount of kernel and rom combinations was a through back to the og days. There appeared to be several development teams supporting the Tbolt with a great deal of roms to choose from.

One bright spot on the X was having liquid's AOSP rom and CM. I hope we see the same amount of love on the razr.

Had the phone since launch day, extremely impressed with the phone, where else can you get a lapdock for a phone? The accessories are nice, I have the lapdock 100, and might upgrade to the 500, maybe (Don't wanna carry around a full size dock, have my laptop for that..). After a couple days of use, I'm a pro on the lapdock, a little buggy and sometimes sluggish, but overall pretty good. Battery been like any other Android phone for me. I had 4g on, 100% brightness, downloading, playing game, and surfing the net, and had over 2.5 hrs, and I was trying to burn that puppy up! Light to moderate use on 3g, I had around 18-20 hrs.

Had data drop once or twice a week, nothing like the Bionic I had, but comes back on within a few seconds. Typing on my lapdock as we speak, could never do this on the 4" screen, would drive me crazy!! Oh, I have a extended battery with the dock, came in handy today at work, didn't have my charger, but was able to charge it through my dock!! :) Love it, Love it...

Ahhh, personal opinions... That's the beauty of varied development. For you the "bright spot" were AOSP and CM. I preferred the absolute stability and battery life of "blurry" DSX.
I'm quite OK if the kernel remains stock on Razr. For me, the stability is there, the battery life is there, and I'm sure as hell do not see a need to OC this racehorse.

Agree no overclocking needed.

I'm continuing to be impressed by Motorola's radios.

Now I get 4g all the way to my house where before it would cut off about 1/4 of the way home

Well said you convinced me...I just got off the phone with VZW get my RAZR on Wednesday, will let everyone know what I think. :icon_ banana:

Make sure to follow some of the advice on battery savings, Smart Actions etc... you will be quite pleased, I am.

While I am pleased with the battery I seriously don't think it will live up to its 12.50 hr rated talk time.

Then again, if the screen is off during calls that could help.

I have gone into the VZW store so many times looking at the razr, they all know on a first name basis. I love the feel, do not feel that it is too wide (I'm 6'6" with large hands). Just want to see it next to a Nexus before I make my decision. Nothing wrong with that.

12.5 hours is very close to what I got conducting my battery experiments (screen off during calls). Remember that 3g/4g turn off when phone is on a call. Also, the battery drain during calls on Razr is slightly slower than battery drain on Droid X. Still, both are very impressive for phone calls.

I'm pretty much finished with my tests. I am in the middle of composing the results to post them.

Cant wait to see the results. Just one thing tho....I thought 4G stayed on? Doesnt all LTE phones do talk and surf at the same time on 4G?
