Hi Guys! Been away for a while-a rough start to the New Year. Was talking to a friend/seller at Verizon and he mentioned that they have no intention of releasing JB soon. Of course, I take this with a bit of salt because Floor Folks are often left out of the loop. Each time I go to a VZ store, I realize that I'm a happy camper with the Droid Razr. Sure, I love the new Samsung S3, but it;s huge!
My nieces and nephews just got Iphones for Xmas, and I love the size, but with my eyes, I can't see a thing! Plus, I am not an Apple ONE BUTTON! I like my Ipad, but HATE that Apple has so much control with user property. U would think that because we purchased the device, the songs, the apps, etc.-that WE would have FULL control over it! LOL (Rooted an old Apple Touch, years ago and it's never been the same. Yes, those were the Dark Ages, but I'm still weary about rooting....

So, that brings me to my question: Any news on when VZ plans on releasing JB to the masses? I am still on .215 leak, which I love, but decided to wait for oTA news before I go back to .211.

I also decided to wait for the "official OTA" and I am still on .215 If JB isn't pushed by end of Q1 I will probably manually flash the update. I am quite confident that JB will be the last update the the Razr Maxx receives so I want to make sure it is very stable.

I also decided to wait for the "official OTA" and I am still on .215 If JB isn't pushed by end of Q1 I will probably manually flash the update. I am quite confident that JB will be the last update the the Razr Maxx receives so I want to make sure it is very stable.

According to the charts from Motorola (below), the Droid RAZR & RAZR MAXX will receive the Jelly Bean update, but there is no set date or deadline for such update. In fact, it doesn't even say it will happen in the calendar year of 2013 (though we all expect it relatively soon given the botched OTA on Christmas Eve 2012).

Don't rush it. I am still 100% unsuccessful getting her phone rooted. I am trying to isolate the problem. It is clearly an ADB problem, but I'm using all new everything. I am now going to uninstall and reinstall ADB to see if that helps.​

I was able to pull it off successfully, I'm currently restoring all my apps with Titanium Backup ... but I kept root and kept my Hotspot hack. So far so good!

So MattyP how do you get all the ladies??

OK, so for some reason the Droid RAZR Utility wouldn't work for me to root...but that's OK, because the Download DroidRazr/rooting/DroidRazrRoot.com_ICS.zip at DownloadAndroidROM.com utility did. I am now rooted on the wife's phone. Now it's time to finish this.

Oh, and by the way MattyP...trying to show me up!!??

Yeah, well the ADB out of date problem was unrelenting. I was surprisingly able to root the first time with the DroidRazrRoot too. Go figure!

Hey, by the way, weren't you already rooted? If so, then I'm not too surprised it worked so well.​

  Update, her phone is updated, and root was retained.
  
  I will be finalizing the collection of steps and posting in the initial post above by the end of this evening. I know there are a certain number of you "advanced" users who will not wait, and will seek out and complete the process on your own. This thread isn't really intended for you, but for all the other wayward sons and daughters who want to do it but are simply too scared, uninformed, don't know what to search for or whether to trust it or whatever. So for the rest of you, please be patient. I want to be 100% sure this is fail-safe for you (or at least as fail-safe as flashing any ROM can be).

  According to the instructions in that link I sent you, you have to use Voodoo to protect root and temp unroot TWICE, and DO NOT unroot it before updating. I flashed the update WHILE ROOTED and used Voodoo to "restore" root, and then rebooted. (I asked questions about that in the thread just to be sure) ​

  Yeah, that's the one I found as well. I was aware of that process. What I DIDN'T do was re-root once I had Fastbooted back to .211.​

  I think not. It was pushed to countless phone owners, so they must make the next upgrade compatible or else they will be casting aside all those owners. That mistake and the bad press it would bring if they left those owners flat could ruin them.

  Going back to .211 now... but still very hesitant on downloading this leaked JB, considering it was accidentally released.
  
  I don't want a half-assed Jelly Bean with some minor bugs in it while Motorola is like "whoops, we put it out on accident before we got to finish it, our fault, teeheehee"... Since there really was no official release date..
  
  Has Motorola released any statement about this? Because if this is actually the final/finished JB that just happened to leak early I'd be more than happy to install it now.
  
  I just don't want to install something that might not even be finished yet.

  This is not what I would consider the "finished product", since it doesn't have the stick MotoBlur Circle clock Widget, and also doesn't have Swype to the left on the lock screen for media control as another member pointed out. However, it is fully functional in all other aspects that I've find so far, and is much smoother than ICS. It also sports the full Google Now.
  
  This is also a true Jelly Bean upgrade since it was pushed to members and is signed so it can be side-loaded. It may not be perfect, but it's near perfect. I do hope to and expect to see a correction, but since this was pushed out so even if it was an accident it will have to be supported.

  It's quite impressive for me. I saw only 20% battery drop over 5.5 hours with heavy use, so I think that looks good. Right now with over 1 hour of use, it still shows 100% (which means it could have started with as little as 91% and/or still has at least 91%)​

  Very good point! Everyone should make sure this is the ONLY copy that has that name, and that you delete ALL Other versions from the SD Card to prevent choosing the wrong one.​

  Did a system cache and Dalvik Cache clear and it broke encryption. Says I must do an FDR. Told it OK and it rebooted and said encryption is still broken. I can gt into AP fastboot, but not into RECOVERY (Get a RED triangle) Geez!! Any ideas!!??​

  WARNING -- Do NOT use Titanium Backup or a REBOOT RECOVERY tool (ROM Toolbox REBOOT RECOVERY, etc). Both will screw the phone and generate an ENCRYPTION UNSUCCESSFUL error. At least they did for me.​

  So i was getting the "E: signature verification failed" error too, so i checked the file size of the zip and re downloaded it from a different server. they were different sizes so i used the new one and it worked fine!

  Followed the steps from stock .211 except I did an FDR prior to installing the update, now I can't get root back with voodoo. Sad panda.
  
  Well kinda anyway, was rooted on .211, used voodoo to temp unroot before installing JB, might be why I can't restore root.​

  Their whole understanding of wallpapers blows my mind. Half pictures on every smart phone taken are vertical. That's the main reason I use GO Launcher, they have that option. I'd like to see my entire picture on my wallpaper. With the stock home screen all you can select from your picture of choice is a perfectly shaped square box that screws up the whole picture.
