Frg01b for root users -- post here

No, today's version is the "final" version. Who knows what we had before.

The first 'leaked' version came from Google's update servers (aka 'patch' version), and was around 45mb (IIRC), which appears to match what folks are reporting in the OTA version...phones are reporting identical info whether by OTA or manually updating using the 'patch' update. I haven't followed the 'Full' update closely enough to know if the that update ALSO shows the same info, but I'm sure some digging would reveal any differences.

I'm running the "full" update, and it has the exact same info as today's OTA.

Excellent! Thanks for the confirmation! :)

They stopped the rollout because of "problems" then restarted it.

Just because the size is the same doesn't mean they didn't fix the problems.

I would just prefer to load today's update to make sure that I have the very latest version that's out there.

the size isn't what we were referring to - it was the build info, kernel info, etc.

So you think the larger file we downloaded is the same file as the one they pushed out today?

Not the same file, as they're obviously different sizes. But I do think it's the exact same system. The smaller one patches 2.1 and makes it 2.2. The larger one replaces 2.1 with 2.2.

If I remember right, the larger file actually came OTA to John Galt over at androidforums.com AFTER he received the first OTA (if I remember right) - either yesterday or the day before... it's all kinda running together now. Here is where the larger file sits with explanatation: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...ircus-continues-frg01b-official-get-here.html

Do you know who John Galt is? Ayn Rand's novel Atlas Shrugged? He was a fictional charcter that bucks the system and fights authority. Me thinks this John Galt is a made up person who feels Vz is "The Man" and they won't control us. We have the file before Vz authorized its release...like we bucked the system.

Just thought it might be funny to recognize who John Galt is. It seems to be whoosing right over our collective heads. LOL

There is only one version that you can loaf if you want to stay rooted and that's the signed version that Jrummy made available last night. I've been running it today and its doing just fine. The links on page 1.

Yes, the irony in the name is funny. And just FYI: [How-To] Force the Official Android 2.2 Froyo Update for the Motrola Droid (FRG01B | Update 1 of 2) - Page 16 - Android Forums

Sorry but I committed the ultimate sin of cross posting... I posted this on the original thread but I feel it belongs here.

I do have one problem... I seem to have lost root!
I tried to test WiFi tether and it said root required

I am sure I downloaded the correct file... I'm going back to Jrummys post and make sure I read it correctly.
OK I have verified that I used the correct file and I am in fact no longer rooted what's up with that? I no longer have SPRecovery and power-Xed into the stock recovery screen.
I also just tried Titanium Back Up and got the message that I need root access."

I have followed all the links that refer back to Jrummys file and they all point to the same file I used for update. I am open for suggestions or just conjecture at this point. I have gone and purchased Easy Root but my activation keys seem to have an issue.

jrummy's file has to be installed with sprecovery or clockwork... if you're back to the stock recovery, then either something went wrong or you accidentally used the wrong file... no offense, it would've been very easy to do that as he didn't rename the file, so it would've looked identical to the stock FRG01B file on that same thread.

i would flash sprecovery again, download jrummy's file again, and give it another go

I used SPRecovery as I have been since these leaks have started back when 2.0.1 was updated to 2.1. The only way I checked to see if the files were the same or to see if I had the correct file was by initiating the download and seeing that the file would be annotated with a (1) after the file name indicating that it was another copy of an existing file with the same name. If Jrummy did not change the name of the file from the non-root version that is quite possibly what happened.
I'll try easy root first since I have already paid for it but if I don't like it I'll go back as you suggested and re-flash SPRecovery and start again.

Been wanting to say something. I noticed this too. I know that can't be the actual person's name. Whoever received this Master OTA is using the fictional character's name as a pseudonym. I wish I could be as cool as this ****er. Man, is this some Donnie Darko **** or what?
