Froyo 2.2 Friday?

That's what the Rep. told me on the way in from work anyway. I've got an email issue that she said should be fixed by the software update which should be out by this Friday. It's the 13th ,lol, but that's what she said.

No...Froyo for the DX is scheduled for late summer.

Basically, take what the techs tell you with a grain of salt. I'm not saying they are stupid, far from it, but usually they have about as much solid info on the OTA's as we do. In all honesty, we periodically have more info. The OTA I had heard for Friday was the Droid Incredible. We'll see if that holds true.

Also, if a rep is telling you this stuff they should technically lose their job. All information from Verizon is supposed to be communicated through official channels, and store reps aren't those channels. So, yeah...grain of salt...

I went in to a Verizon store on 8/2 to order my X. The rep told me that the 2.2 updates would start rolling out for the X OTA on 8/3. I haven't seen any evidence that this is true, I'm sure people would be posting if their X's got froyo.

It seems like the Verizon sales reps aren't phone geeks like us, but regular folks just trying to sell. I think the best and most accurate info you can find is out there on the webz.

I actually talked to tech support few minutes ago and after much searching and even calling a store in my area, she informed me that the rep she spoke to at the store told her that she had received a OTA notification for her phone, but other store reps hadn't yet. Just passing along what I was told, take it for what it's worth.:rockon:

Kinda makes sense to me - especially now thats its official the droid 2 is coming out Thursday with 2.2, I would imagine 2.2 for X is right around the corner... Wouldn't surprise me if it came out the day after the droid 2, but I am not holding my breathe either

Lord lets hope that there are no other issues that need to be fixed (although I fully agree that the volume issue needs to be fixed) or else we will never get 2.2 and flash 10.1!

Um well i am a verizon rep and believe me we know info about OTA release dates etc. well after they have been posted. We are considered a "liability"

Not disputing release date for Froyo but is mid Aug not considered late summer...?

UMmm, No. August is mid-summer. Early to mid September is late summer. Summer lasts until about Sept. 21 when Fall comes in. At least it used to. These days----who knows?

Barely reached mid-60's here...so...I'd say summer is over! Where's the update?
