Frozen on lock screen?

Droid Eris Freeze

The same thing happened to me also since the update. The phone froze while on calls could not go to speakerphone adjust volume or anything the screen/buttons would not respond. I took out the battery to get the phone functioning again. When the phone does this if someone calls the phone does nothing. This happened 4X in one day and I had noticed the phone began to get quite sluggish over the days after the update. I took it back and they gave me a new one we will see what happens. I wonder what will happen when they roll out 2.0 next year...LOL

Since the hard reset, I have not had the freeze issue again. Signal seems ok. So have to say it appears (knock on wood) that things are back to normal.

As an aside, talked with VZW rep (I used to work for vzw) yesterday. Official word on 2.? update is Feb. 19th, for what it is worth.

I don't believe a word any in-store reps say regarding dates on phone updates or phone releases. 99.9% of the time the in-store reps don't have anymore information about release dates than we do, and they're just going by rumors and stuff they've heard as well.

I'll believe an update date when a OTA notice pops up on my phone, or MAYBE if I saw an official release on Verizon or HTC's website.

I did the update, and have not experienced this problem. The download and install of the update seemed to go smoothly. Curious if those experiencing this problem noticed anything weird during the update, since that is claimed by HTC to be the source of the problem. What if signal strength was low, for example? Also, can the update be done by a tech at a store? If so, perhaps that would be a safer route.

I didn't experience any issues during the update, it seemed to go smoothly.

I had two freezes on Tuesday, but luckily I haven't had a single one since then. *knock on wood*

had the same problem with locked screen after OTA upgrade -- it happened twice. After that, I did a *228 and re-programmed the phone (option #1) and it appeared to fixed the problem.

Could that be why I didn't have that problem? I did a *228 right after the download and never had a lockup. Maybe HTC should suggest that whenever they send updates...!

A week after receiving the update and all was well ... until yesterday.

Then, my Eris locked twice on the lock screen.

Hope HTC figures this out soon.

Oh well, thought I was out of the woods. Mine has locked up twice in the past several days. So that is still an issue. Also seems that the processor runs slow intermittently.

Froze on Lock Screen With Incoming Call after Update

I was hoping that the update would fix freezing on the lock screen with an incoming call. It didn't as it happened again on Monday Jan 4th, 2010, after updating over the weekend.

I didn't miss this call though, hitting the power button twice, enabled the unlock to answer call before the call ended. Previously I had missed six calls because the phone wouldn't let me answer them. I'm going to the store next to complain as a phone that doesn't let me answer isn't.

Google sent me an email today advertising their next phone. Hope they fix their OS first so it allows their new phone to answer calls. Else I wish them luck. I'ld would not recommend an Android based phone until this is resolved if ever.

Motorola Droid, Firmware V2.0.2, Kernel V2.6.29-omap1-g0dd7e0b, android build@apa26 #511 Build #ESD56,

Additional downloaded apps are RealCalc V1.3.3, StopTimer, and ColorNote V1.5.0.

As an EE with 30 years of experience, I expect digital systems to do what you program and design them to do, absolutely, and abhor updates as it means the you didn't do the job right the first time. It shouldn't be that hard. If you design it right each state is either True or False.

There was one positive note Monday night. Sheldon's decision tree ended in an infinite loop and he had help getting it redesigned to terminate gracefully. Please fix our OS so that the love we feel is deserved instead of expected/exploited.

Happened to me just yesterday for the first time. My update was weeks ago, so I'm not convinced that is to blame.
Pulled the battery; no big deal. But if it continues...

ksanger35... This is the HTC Eris forum. While your symptoms are similar to what some Eris users have seen, you might get more useful feedback if you posted to the Motorola Droid forum.

i've had my eris for a week, its frozen during calls as well, and when i'm doing other things...had to take out battery
