Full Droid Specs...

Yeah the RAM for the Etna was 512MB and this is now showing 1GB. I'm not sure what to believe. I know I'm not happy about the 0.3mp front facing camera :icon_evil:

i think the 0.3 ffc was for etna. This pdf is all mixed up between etna and bionic. I would not believe any of it until a reliable document is released

No negativity, but no surprises either. I'm sure the bionic will be a great lte phone, but I think most people would be happy they got the droid 3 now instead of waiting (if they don't care about 4g).

I don't see why there is all the negativity over the D3. The D3 and the HTC Sensation are the current top-performing phones of this generation (according to Anandtech...although they should have a review of the SGSII soon) and the Bionic should be at least as good. In addition, it has LTE which neither of those phones do. That's not some small, insignificant factor.

Brandon,

I am not seeing D3 negativity here. From me quite the opposite. As 4g is a non-issue for me, these spec's as laid out really only put ram as a possible significant "upgrade" of the Bionic spec's over the D3. And as I posted, there are a couple of things that look better on the D3. That in and of itself is enough to make me question this pdf file. We're not gonna know for sure until we have something more official on the Bionic. Or the GS2, for that matter.

Any body noticed that the "pixel density" (dpi) are the same yet the screen sizes are different with the same resolution? That is not possible. What it does mean though, if the spec holds true, is that the Bionics's screen pixels will be more evident than the D3's.

I noticed that as well. Red flag indeed.

This is why I find theses specs suspect.

Not being a rich man, if the specs are almost the same as the photon (lukewarm reception), then I will wait on something that's cutting edge and not just a collection of quickly becoming stale technology with sub-par camera and video capabilities.

Stop spreading fud.

If the leaked bionic specs are true, then it's the same camera/video in the D3. Go down to vzw and compare the D3's camera and video to the Charge (another sammy product). The D3 is still taking choppy stuttering video (Hmmm, just like my D1) unlike the smooth sammy video. The D3 camera takes worse pictures than my D1 (and no I don't want to dl another program to "fix" what shouldn't be broken). If that's not enough, there's plenty of other stuff online to back me up. I've mentioned before that the best evidence I've seen is a thread over on XDA forums for the best pictures people have taken with their GSII's. It is a must see for anyone who puts high value on their phone's camera. From macro to panoramic, motorola can not hang with samsung. One of the many pictures that is stuck in my mind is a closeup of a bee in flight. The amount of detail is amazing. You look at sammy pix and say "Wow!", you look at moto pix and say "Pretty good for a phone." Do you think that maybe there's a connection between samsung manufacturing really nice cameras, computers, and televisions and motorola not??

PS- Unless fud is like yiddish for truth, then I take it all back.:)

I don't get this either. Why don't we all just wait till august 7th and hopefully we will get all the right info then. Both of the threads here about released specs have shown the xt865 not the xt875, so can we really trust they are the correct specs, no. Perhaps the etna was upgraded before it got scrapped? Regardless, its still going to be a dual core 4g phone, and it'll have a lot of internal storage and ram, something my d1 does NOT have. I, personally, am still very excited even if these specs are true.

And really why is everyone so hung up on the camera? I carry my phone for communication and emergency pictures. If you want good pictures.....buy a dslr camera! I carry my dslr and a point and shoot when I am going to something that will require pictures. If I don't want to carry the dslr ill just pocket my point and shoot, and I'm a chick with small pockets who doesn't carry a purse, I can fit it all with no problems....I don't understand why people care about the lens so much.....ITS A PHONE NOT A CAMERA.

You forgot that samsung has backhoes too. Maybe they will make transformer pfones soon that can take good pictures and dig holes in my yard!

Renae,

The reason is not much camera specific, but more generally some of us need the camera or the gps or the video for what we deem important in our lives. Yes, we can buy separate devices to do these other things, but for a device that costs hundreds of dollars, and is marketed to do these other things, we need to make informed decisions. If all I needed for work was a phone, there are plenty of options out there, most of which would be given to me at no charge (for the hardware).

For my work I always need a phone and sometimes I need data, the camera and most certainly gps capability. A couple of years ago I too thought I only needed the phone as a phone for work. As I own my own company, these days I really do need the rest to stay competitive. And I do have standalone devices for these other functions, but to stay competitive I would then have to upgrade these other devices as well? We all have varing type of "needs".

At least these leaked spec's, real or not has let me do a little research. Specifically on the gps radio. It would appear that the D3 has a radio for data, a radio for GPS and a corresponding antenna for each. The Bionic appears (if Wiki is correct) that the phone likely has the two radios, but the signals are shared on the same antenna. What this means to me is that no way no how I will buy on a pre-release. I am gonna need to see feedback and GPS useage to see if the phone's GPS works properly in a no data area, or whether the shared antenna causes any other GPS issues.

And as I posted somewhere else here, it looks as if my Mpeg4 videos, all which took me a VERY long time to rip will require a 3rd party application to work. Probably not a big deal, but why moto would downgrade the video playback support is very puzzling to me.

But, I will get more definative when I can go to motodev and find the spec's in a side by side comparison for myself. Right now I cannot do this, so there is some suspicion in my mind about these specs.

Thanks for your input. I still think having a fairly functional camera is fine, even if it isn't going to take dslr quality pics, it still takes pictures.

I do agree with you about gps though. I rely on my hpone entirely for gps directions and geocaching because I find google maps to be superior to my garmin car unit. Hopefully we will have some more info on this by the 7th.
