Future for Droid1?

Yeah but what happens to the overclock droid when a possiblitiy of a phone that can be hacked like the droid dual core running honeycomb. I would enjoy some honeycomb right now. But a phone can't be obsolete till it is cut off entirely from cdma or wifi
Edit. Or even other cell networks trying not to be biased is all

When that happens Ill upgrade.

I think that the OG Droid still has plenty of like left in it. I got my wife an Xperia X10 Mini pro for Christmas because thats what she wanted.
One of my friends got an X10 mini because thats what she wanted. My co worker just got the Optimus for Virgin Mobile. My other coworker is getting the same one soon.
What I'm trying to say is that the average user is happy with Droid like power for now. We with our custom roms are ahead of them in technology.
Most people that I know are barely starting to discover the true power of their smartphones.
That also goes for the Iphone and other phones. For example my buddy has got a 3GS and he is happy to make and receive calls. For him the best part of his phone is the fact that he can watch youtube and use it to play music on his car.
His siter owns the Iphone 4 and well she is happy with it just because its an Iphone 4. She has no idea of what she hold in her hand and what power awaits her on her phone and other phones.
I don't know maybe I just don't have that many nerd friends?

I'll be holding onto mine for awhile still - nothing has came out that is as customizable yet, except the Xoom, and that's not a phone :)

Until a phone comes out that impresses me as much as my D1 does.......I'm not budging an inch. Running SS 5.0 gingerbread and Chevy1's low v 1.25 ghz 7 slot kernel. Quandrant scores in the 1500s ....... if this thing had a front facing camera, it would be the last phone I would own.

If you're looking for a feature filled, functional, stable Gingerbread Build, I'd recommend taking a look at Project Elite v5, links in my sig

I Agree, this ROM rocks. But back to subject, remember that the D1 was way ahead of the curve when it was created, Moto and Verizon both knew it and corrected themselves with locked phones after it. I really think that the D1 helped Android get going so well. As far as what's under the hood? It's hanging in there via ROMs and updates, and while there will always be a following and some ROMs out for it, eventually the media and networks will be too much for even the D1 to handle.:greendroid::heart::motdroidvert:
