FXZ back to 902 question

planning on following these steps i have everything downloaded just couple questions
plug phone into computer then go into flash mode? or do i go into the flash menu thing then plug my phone in?
if i plug phone in first should i have it set to a certain mode?

Go into fastboot then connect to PC. Fastboot defaults to charge only.

Also have RSDlite up and running too as well as the latest moto drivers.
