Galaxy Nexus Launching Nov. 21 web only...

Bingo, this thing will be rooted within minutes of me having it. I can't wait to see what the developers are going to do with it. Though honestly, the wireless tether will be the main reason I tether. Not sure how much the ROM's will be able to improve on ICS, but you never know. The developers really are that good.

Yeah, ICS looks pretty solid but there's always room for improvement with Android. I'm sure the devs will find ways to make it better. They do some pretty amazing things. I mean look how stable GB ROMs have gotten since they were first released.

This will actually make me happy should this end up being true. Now I can avoid the hasssel of dealing with Verizon employees.

I just hope we can order it from Costco online on the 21st. That would make my day.

Wont be able to OC until we have a kernel that supports it, and be careful with restoring apps from TiBu, there may be compatibility issues unless restoring a HC version of the app. You'll probably want to download the ICS compatable version and not the gb backup. And to test those 4g speeds!

Good point on TiBa. I honestly never use it for restoring anymore. I use AppBrain and have had a lot less trouble restoring since switching the process. With AppBrain, everything is a fresh reinstall from the Market, so much cleaner and safer. If you haven't tried it, I really recommend it.

Yea I know, I'm not going to be the first to do any of this! I'm not a test pilot kinda guy! ;)

Well the thing is already rooted. It wouldnt surprise me if its overclocked to 1.8 with a custom ROM before the phone is even released!

I only restore data - aka - save games!

I will be running it unrooted for atleast a little while should the ICS stock bloatware freezer work as intended. Before I dive into installing roms and what not, I am really curious as to see how this phone will compare to the iPhone stock vs. stock. Stock vs. stock is really the best type of phone comparison that can be made between two devices. Roms, while helping battery and giving the user options, are what I consider tools in order to keep the phone tolerable for the entire 2 year contract period. However, now that Android is taking a one-size fits all OS release with ICS (for the most part), I wouldn't be surprised if our phone (being a Nexus) were to be supported with OS updates throughout the 2-year period. Not too big of a deal either way though considering roms, at the very least, will keep you up to date with the latest OS from Google for your entire 2 year period. Life with a Nexus is going to be sweet, that's for sure.

The main thing I'm looking at for rooting is Wireless Tether. The rest I'm quite content to leave alone for awhile.

Does anyone here have experience buying from costco? I have heard great things, definitely heard about the bionic, hoping that happens again. Also, I hear they may offer better insurance then vzw? I don't know how true that is, just looking for testimonies.

The first thing I will most likely be changing post-root will be the kernel. Kernels, in my experience, have the biggest effect on battery life and performance. I should be happy with the rapid Google updates as far as software goes though so who knows when I'll get the desire to mess with a custom kernel.

Arkbird does. He bought his bionic there. You could try PM'ing him if he doesn't see your post soon. But I'm pretty sure that insurance is the same as it is at VZW stores, but that the exchange policy is 90 days instead of 14 like it is at VZW stores. Costco typically includes several accesories with the device all while keeping the price lower than VZW stores. Costco definitely seems to be the most bang or your buck.

Also i hear they dont charge tax on the full price of the phone and the Nexus is going to be pricey so your looking at an extra 60 or 70 bucks. Plus if you pay cash at a verizon store they take forever to cut you a check if you return it im still waiting on mine from the Bionic return from 9/22.Ill wait a little longer to get it from Costco.
