Galaxy Note 4

I bought a Galaxy Note 4 from someone I know but I don't think its the right one. I'm currently with Straight Talk and when I gave them the IMEI they told me that the number is no good. But when I put my SIM card in it works but will not let me update. Its saying connection failed error. Can someone help me with this? I think I bought a fake one.

Could the IMEI be blocked.....meaning not able to be activated?

If your friend has an outstanding bill to the last service provider for that phone, they certainly can block the IMEI number. I agree, that's a good place to start looking for an answer. Not a solution, mind you, an ANSWER.

Then one other thing I had notice is that the IMEI that's on the back of the phone doesn't match the IMEI under about phone.

This is a huge red flag here. Something screwy is going on. Is it a huge noticeable difference or like an O where a zero should be?

A big difference. I Googled both, the IMEI one that's under about phone sent me to a web site on someone who fixes phones. And the IMEI on the back of the phone didn't pull up anything.

I believe there is an IMEI site that will check it. However if the phone wasn't made for straight talk it won't update on their network.

Wow, I just got off the phone with Samsung customer service. They told me to call China because the that version wasn't made in the USA.

Where does it say 9100? Can we get some screen shots of the about phone section?

There is a knock off that goes by the number which is shown on the box you have above but I also thought it was a valid Samsung number

I thought you could have seen it on the white label on the phone where the battery goes. Well I put a closer picture on here when I get off from work in the morning.
