Galaxy S3 moving Apps to external SD card Issue.....

So, I've JUST backed up my Color Notes on my Droid X SD card, and moved it to the SGS3. NOW what? Are you saying that I have lost all my notes? Is there a way to move the data FROM the SD card into the app? I LOVE my Color notes app.

Thanks!

color note let's you backup all your notes to your Gmail account, once you reload it to your new phone just have it do a sync with your Gmail account and all your notes will be right back in color note.

NP, you found the sync option under settings in color note, also set it to sync as soon as you open it, once loaded in New device, add your email at let it sync, and bam, all your notes are back, LOL.

it doesnt work fully

I moved all the the files and it worked, and i did this for the big games such as asphalt 6 which takes about a 1 gb of my space on my phone.ii put the file on the extSdcard then when i go on the game it says i have to download the data so i have to move it back on to the phone memory to play the game

After playing around with the phone for 2weeks I finally figured it out. You have to go to the app screen, look for my files.. You should see sd and ext sd card. On the sd card find the file that you want to move. select move then go to ext sd and make a new folder the select done and the app will be moved from sd to ext sd on phone

Yh this does work but when its for big games such as fifa 12,which is about 1.5GB with the downloaded data, if i move the data to extsdcard it lets me do that but when i go to play the game it says i have to download the data again so wuat i have to do is move it back on to 'sdcard' and then it works.note this is for all games with downloaded data. Can you help coz its really annoying

N.O.V.A. 3 takes a chunk of the 11Gb I have available ....

N.O.V.A 3 takes 2Gb of the 11Gb I have free on my 16Gb SGS3 Blue. Nav Free World another 1.5Gb. Real Racing 2 just over 1Gb.

So, 40%+ of my App space with just 3 apps!

:icon_eek:

I hope Samsung/Google/whomever sorts this app-to-micro-SD-card issue out, before I run out of space ......

Does everyone know that you can NOT move your downloaded Apps from the Google Play store to your external SD card on the SG3, the only thing that can go on your external SD Card is files you download from any source "but the Google Play store", so for those that like to download lots of games and need more that 11 Gigs of space that will be available on the 16 gig SG3 model "the OS and some of the preloaded files take about 5 gigs" you have no option of moving them to the external SD card.
For me on the 16GB version of the SG3 there will be 11 Gigs left for Apps and anything else, that is more than enough "for me", as I see that has caused a big uproar all over the web in regards to this issue, I say keep the Apps that you use MOST in your MY Apps Installed folder in the Google Play market, and the ones you hardly use in your ALL folder in the App market. That would be the only solution I would have for this issue till Samsung resolves this problem.

Rooted the device and used Directory Bind

How to move applications & games data to external SD card?

Easy and it works to free space on the internal sd

WOW this stinks. I got rid of my Droid RAZR due to battery issues & now I can't move apps to SD. I would have switched to the RAZR MAXX. I can't win!!!!

Natively, apps can't be moved to the microSD card on the RAZR/MAXX either. They can only be moved from the application storage area of the internal memory to the media area of the internal memory.

So if you could find the app outside of the Google play store, would you be able to store it on the external sd. Amazon marketplace for instance. Obviously not all apps are available from amazon, but a number of the free ones are. Would this be a viable workaround?

Listen guys, the problem is NOT with Samsung. It is part of the new structure of the ICS operating system and is set up that way on many newer phones. As a HEAVY gamer, I was furious when I found out about it in September of last year when I bought my new Droid Bionic and could not load even half of my games on it (especially Gameloft games which typically have HUGE data folders).

After yelling and screaming at BOTH Verizon and Motorola about it for months I finally found a couple of apps that a few super smart developers created that fixes it but you must be rooted in order to use them (research "rooting your Android phone" if you don't know what rooting is). The best app for this is "Directory Bind" which I have been using for months now on both my old Bionic AND on my Galaxy S3! I have several topics out here in the forums on this, but I assure you that it is the way to go for putting 20-30GB+ of game data on your EXTERNAL sdcard and not be restricted by your internal sdcard. I believe it was Google who came up with this partitioned structure of the new OS after Gingerbread and I agree that it doesn't seem to make much sense to have 2 areas both called "sdcard" but what can you do?...

I strongly suggest doing your research, root your phone, and then use Directory Bind to store all the game data you want and put it all on the external card.

Good Luck.
