gameboid

Don't call me a jackass, I helped you plenty. You needed a file, I told you the exact file name to find. I told you to Google it--a VERY helpful tip as googling the file name gives you the download on the FIRST link. I'm not going to link directly to it as there's a legal gray area, but let me do this for you:

Link

I understand that you're new to smartphones, but you don't have to act like you've never used a computer before, either.

Also, homebrew is user created material for game devices--material NOT protected by copyright.

Hey I'm sorry if I offended you by calling you a jackass. I just would have googled it if I had the time to go looking around and learn how to do it myself. But I wanted to come to a forum, specifically for the droid, to get an explanation on what to do. Why do you have to assume I know everything there is to know about computers and cellphones?

It is a slippery slope debate, but if you own the game, it is a widely-held notion that you can legally download the ROM of said game.

You have TIME to play with emulated console games, yet you don't have TIME to do a little research on how to do it?

Your attitude, to put it mildly, SUCKS. Emulators are first and foremost made for people who know what they are doing, or are at least willing to invest the time it takes to LEARN. Most of them can be quite finicky at times.

Plus, like it's been pointed out to you, the GBA bios (and game ROMs) for that matter are a legal grey area. Technically, in order to use the emulator you a) need to OWN the console you are emulating; and b) need to OWN the actual cartridge that you are trying to play.

The makers of the emulator ASSUME it's going to be used for legal purposes, they also ASSUME that you know how to go about extracting the BIOS from your actual console; and how to rip the cartridge itself into a useable form.

There are sites out there that offer the BIOS files and ROM files as a shortcut to circumvent the need to dump ROMs (and to do away with the need to have the necessary hardware) - but, like I said, it's a legal grey area; and even these sites assume you own the hardware and a license for the game itself. Emulators are not MEANT to be a free-for-all. Thus, we can't just go blindly posting links to BIOS files and ROMs.

so how do i put games on my droid after i download the bios?

You make a "GBA Roms" folder on your SDcard (or wherever you want to put them) and drag-and-drop them from your PC.

Then, you use the in-emulator menu to navigate to the ROM.

I am NOT getting into where to get the ROMs themselves.

Alright... love this app to death. Its amazing. Wish it could connect to other people. I gotsta trade my pokemon. :) lol. But I do have one problem, kingdom hearts chain of memories will not load intro past 15 secs... how do I fix this?

^You need to dl a different rom. That one is screwy. That seems to fix the few problems I've had with gameboid. Sometimes ROMs aren't complete for whatever reason.

Cool Roms? I think? DopeRoms.. And Romulation... Theyre all on the first page of Google.

I got most of mine from Cool and Dope Roms.

Rockin' that Pokemon, yessir.

Lol. I actually typed freeroms .com and it did that. Lol. Oh well. Thanks, ill go download it and see if it works. I really wish this had online play and gameshark... but oh well. Its still an amazing app.

Do you have the paid version? I think maybe, don't quote me, that you can use gameshark? I never liked it, so I haven't attempted to find/use it, but well, id do a search.

I do have the paid version. And I have been looking... but haven't really found one that. Works... if anyone does though... let me know!
