Gingerbread Breaks LEDs

GB light notifications

I had this problem weeks ago when I downloaded first unofficial GB leak. (search forum for others who posted as well.)

The fix has seemed to be to download free app Light Flow. It fixed my light notifications and has lots of color choices and notification customizations.

Working like a charm.

My LED does not show a missed call or calendar events. I do get the Email LED, but if I wake the phone up and put it back to sleep, I will loose the LED. It used to stay until I checked the actual mail. Bummer...

seems to be working fine here. would be nice to have option for led notification while screen is on too, but not a big deal.

I imagine there will be an update at some point when they finally figure out how to make the LED work on GB. But.. until then, use an app called Light Flow.

This has been a known problem since the first leak and one reason I won't upgrade to GB.

I use Handcent's custom LED notification functionality for text messages, and after the update it stopped working. I had to change the LED Flash Frequency from "Default" to another value to get it to work again.

Update: Handcent just released an updated version that fixes this bug.

Stock OTA GB yesterday and the LED functions as stated here - Screen off, the LED blinks normally but goes out forever on that notification as soon as the screen is turned on.

I liked the old way because in a meeting I could see there was a notice in silent mode, hit a button to see real quickly if it was an e-mail or a text, and put the phone down. The screen would go off but the light would keep blinking so that it would remind me there was still a note pending. Now it's possible to forget about it until much later which is bad.

Yet another thing they *change* for the sake of change which is different from what we've gotten used to over the months so we have to do things differently or just get used to a new way of doing things until they change it again! No need for little changes like this unless they provide a way to configure it the way the user wants.

Just because some developer thinks this way is better doesn't mean it it.

*Ugh* I installed Light Flow and my LEDs still don't work. So frustrating. I rely on the lights often. :icon_evil:

Handcent has an update on the market. It has fixed the notification issue.

Swet! This works for HandCent....now if I could only get a fix so I would get LED notifications for missed calls and voicemails.....

Hmm, that Light Flow should work.. Do you know what SBF is? You may want to go back to Froyo and then reinstall GB. That's the only thing I can think of.

I never had any issues with the other notifications (email, twitter, missed calls etc), only handcent. I wonder if its a deeper issue on your phone.

I had issue where none of my LED notifications worked, except for with Light Flow. I cleared the system cache and now my LED notifications work like they did on Froyo. Back to normal.

Hope that helps those of you with issue. It was driving me nuts.
