after reading all the latest news about verizon blocking wireless tethering in the gingerbread update, I think I'll pass on the update.....

I haven't tried to tether yet...will update you and see what happens...
Definitely something to make you think twice about updating, however I tether once in a blue moon, so won't really affect me....others I can see this being a major issue though....
The update breaks root anyhow, so you'll definitely lose wireless tethering anyhow.
Very true, but apparently P3Droid and TeamBlackHat have a rooted gingerbread install for the Pro that I was going to try out. Now I'm having second thoughts.....
Oh yeah... Forgot about those. I will probably not root again right now anyhow. Rarely used wireless tether.

Yeah, so far it just seems like Wireless Tether is the one that's meeting difficulties on Verizon's gingerbread updates, not every tethering app.
