Been to the darkside (non-MIUI ROM) and I'm back. I tried the Gingerbread on 3 different ROMs, CM7 nightlies, ChevyNo1 5.0, and Liquid 1.2 Gingerbread. The first two were not stable on my Droid. Liquid worked OK for a few hours but I found all those ROMs quite boring compared to MIUI.

Two things I found quite nice in Gingerbread were the keyboard and the new cut and paste in EVERY text field. The keyboard can be installed on MIUI, It is a freat upgrade imho. Here is the link from XDA developers:

Renamed Gingerbread Keyboard - updated 2010-12-28 - xda-developers

But I have yet to find the cut and paste feature of Gingerbread that could be installed on Froyo based ROMs. To be honest I did not find anything else from Gingerbread worthy enough to change from MIUI. Maybe the developers can add these two features :hail:

I think the new cut/paste is a feature of GB itself, not some add-on that can be put on a Froyo based MIUI.

I'd love to be corrected on that, but the evidence seems to point that way.

FWIW, I've had moderately good luck with Pete Alfonso's GB build for Droid 1. It seems to use a lot less memory than the others.

hmmmm, it should be part of a program so it can be ported, no? I'm not positive. The keyboard was ported so I'd guess that can be too.

I can't really see why I would need 2.3 if these are the only 2 function I'd use from Gingerbread. Thanks

It could be part of the OS itself, like voice entry was for 2.2

Only you can answer that. No one's forcing you to take it. =)

Do you have a link that don't require a registration. I am tired of registering on a million sites. Btw what's your twitter?
