Specifically they are members of the Motorola Feedback Network (fancy name for their support forums). When you sign up at their forum you can tell them you want to participate in these kinds of tests. They let you test out the software and you take a survey to give "feedback" about it.

If someone is getting exactly what they want from their phone now then there is No reason to upgrade.

My phone is very near perfect right now...but I'll upgrade just because I like change every now and then.

My biggest concern is losing the Epic Blue theme I have going. I really really like it.
I think I'm going to gamble and go Stock with this OTA. I hope it gets rooted...but if not. I'll survive. (i think)

I would view the update as I do all app updates these days; I'm going to look at the comments and experiences of those who take it and see what the overall consensus is. I like how my phone is running now & don't want to risk changes that aren't necessarily improvements. I'll see what others like about it and how stable it is first.

I know an update of the OS is different than a simple app upgrade, but I've had bad experiences with updates many times & I'd just rather wait & make sure it's relatively stable and worth the trouble.

I know to you this sounds logical but nothing can be further from the truth. All you will see is complaints. You're not going to hear from the people who are satisfied with the update. I know this from experience so reading the comments will not help you form an objective opinion. It will give you the complainers side, not the one's who are satisfied.

Lets take 2.2 on the original Droid as an example. Many people who were rooted were using it long before the official release and very happy with it. But shortly after toe OTA went out the complaints started to roll in. My phone is running slower. My battery is being used more. On and on it went.

Most of these people caused their own issues by running apps that ween't necessary, like task killers, or had apps that weren't capable of using the new OS. That was another complaint, 2.2 broke (insert app here).

For the remainder who had issues a simple factory data reset fixed them right up. Now you never hear anyone complain about 2.2 on the original Droid.

My point is what you will read on the internet is complaints and I can guarantee you the majority of users do not have these issues. Nobody logsin and says, got the update, had installed for 2 weeks now and it's working great. What you have is people who have had the update 24 hours and complaining.

Just tried to manually retrieve the upgrade about ten minutes ago. It was a no-go.

You are not getting it today. If we see it before next week we will be very lucky.

We have heard rumor after rumor, release date after release date and it is always wrong, it always gets pushed back, etc...

Just forget about it. It will get here when it gets here and it won't be today.

How did u get an email from them? Like, what I'm asking is, how do u sign up for notifications from them?
