Gingerbread X2

So if/when I install the SBF on my phone and I get the OTA update to work, I won't have the ability to root my phone? That makes sense. How long does it typically take for the people who make those exploits to come up with a new solution to achieve root?

There is a method to achieve root in gb but you cannot accept the ota, head to xda forums there is tutorials there under android dev subforum for x2 to get root in gb

And I can also confirm that this works as I have done it. I was stock froyo and did data wipe. Installed gingerbreak and bootstrap recovery. Downloaded zip posted by p3droid and followed instructions at xda site. Worked perfectly. Love it. I am glad I did not wait for OTA so I could have this

To those of you who downloaded your update this morning or today: did you first do a factory reset? Or did you just hit the "git it now!" button?

Thanks!

Wendy

Just tapped the get it now button. Worked fine and all my apps seem fine with all widgets working fine as well. Really liking the update so far.

DL'd GB OTA this PM.

Works well. Smoother. Still get an occasional jump in MP3s but that means 2 ttl in 5 songs so far which is better than 10 per song as before.

Wow people don't forget to go into settings and run ur update. Don't expect someone to do it for u. Also, does anyone else notice after update the phone vibrates diff. Like when you are typing

Yes i realized that when typing the phone does vibrate different but its smooth and so far my gingerbread update was successful and no problems.

So my phone has been rooted for about a month with many apps frozen.

This morning I got the update, and said yes expecting it to undo everything or not work because I was rooted with frozen apps.

After restarting and installing the update my phone is no longer rooted but all the apps I had locked are still locked, is this normal?

Also am I the only one who has skipping and pausing in pandora with this phone specifically? Still happens with GB and never happened with my X.

Updated my phone yesterday and so far so good with Gingerbread. Runs smoother and seems faster stock than rooted froyo. As far as the skipping when playing internet radio it happened quite frequently on froyo but in a day and a half with gingerbread, no problems. Keeping my fingers crossed.

On a side note, downloading and installing apps is lightning quick, especially via wifi.

No, you are not the only one. Correct, GB did not solve my primary beef with this phone, the audio problems. And yes, my X was fine.

I've been using the version from the ZIP file for awhile now and I really can't tell a difference after all. Battery life seems better, but performance wise everything else feels the same. The animation/transition between home screens changed, and not for the better. It looks even less smooth now, am I the only one who sees that?

are you using a launcher? Before the update my home screen was lagging a little. I installed Launcher Pro Plus and changing screens was smoother than ever. After the GB update it seems even better.

Nope, my X2 is completely stock.

EDIT: Hmm, just installed Launcher Pro and it is totally smooth. I'm going to have to see if it stays that way when I add my stuff back or if it bogs down again.

I received the 2.33 update today. I just got my new X2 and I went into settings>about> then updates. Now I have 2.33. No issues yet

I'm still waiting. My phone says there's an update but the update won't download. Took it in and the rep says wait a couple more days to see if it corrects itself or they'll issue me a brand new phone.

If thi official release that they are beginning to send out in waves is the same thing I am currently testing for the soak test... Then I am truly disappointed in such a large company and their ability to make mistakes. If a new update is not shortly announced, you will see me ditching Moto for HTC.

Not to mention HTC's new dev website. HERE
