GOODBYE Thunderbolt - After 1 week of constant battery drainage, i gave up

And web pages that use your location. Doesn't the description of the GPS say "Requires more battery plus view of sky"??

Leaving GPS enabled does nothing. GPS is only used when an application is open that requires it.

Unless you have apps that sync in the background that use gps (weatherbug, etc.)...

yep, it's true...I couldn't take it anymore. I just returned it this afternoon...$35 lesson.

The whole notion of having a charger attached to you all the time didn't work for me. i was even scared every time I went out for the night that the battery might not last.

Everyone says: turn off background data, don't use live wallpaper, get rid of widgets, turn the brightness all the way down. WTH!??! Then why even have a smart phone?

The phone is very beautiful and the 4G service is fast, and although I really wanted to keep it a long time, I just couldn't get it to work for me. Somebody said they are going to push out an update, but it will probably come out after the 14 day return period is up.

I wonder who else is in the same boat as me and has returned the TB. Please post below.

I find this to be a bit overblown. The battery for the Thunderbolt is just fine. I picked on up for my wife on the day it came out, and wanted to make sure the battery wasn't as bad as everyone said. I managed to run the thunderbolt (with everything on, including 4G) and it ran for 7 hours under that heavy use. With the mid range use my wife gives it she only charges it every other night.

Why buy your wife a $250 smartphone when she won't even use it? In order to only have to charge any smartphone every other night, then you literally have to just use it as a paper weight. Honestly, you could save $250 and get her a free feature phone which would be just fine for her.

Why can't he buy his wife the best of the best that's currently out with Verizon? It's his money... It's their choice... You realize that just because you have a smartphone doesn't mean you need to run the thing to the ground. Everyone uses their phone differently in case you didn't know

And to the op my battery was somewhat bad the first couple days but just recently I've been getting great battery usage out of my tb with light to moderate usage I got 10hr+ from a single charge yesterday.. and I still had 50% battery left

Do you understand what I'm saying though, champaned_out?

If his wife only has to charge her phone every other night, then her screen on time can't be any greater than 2-3 hours of the total time (apparently 48 hours). I think everyone would agree that if she is only going to be using it for that little, than his $250 could be put to much more useful things (bills, college funds, etc.).

meh. 250 is 250.
Going to be different for everyone.
For some, that's a pair of shoes.
For some, that's 2 nights out to dinner with the family.
For others, its a golf club.
For others, it may not even be enough for a new purse.

I think people would rather have the Thunderbolt than be able to pay one utility bill one time.

Not too take this post somewhere else...but let the man buy his wife what he wants to buy his wife!

OP...sorry that you really didn't have enough time to give the phone a.chance...good luck with the next one...

Yeah I see where our coming from but kaic never complained about the price of the phone or the battery, so why tell him to return the phone for a feature phone? What if they need access to internet, emails, a camera worthy enough to replace their digital camera etc etc

I certainly don't agree. I don't care how much he or his wife use the phone, if they want to get the best phone available with their money then that is their choice and nobody should be telling them what to do with their money.

And everyone could drive Kias to put the money toward more useful things.

I don't see why we are hating on him for buying the Thunderbolt for his wife? Okay, so she doesn't use it all day, oh well. That's like someone saying to me "You have a Corvette and you don't race it every day, but only once a week" Oh fricking well.

Amazing! My phone overnight with wifi drops almost 70% in 8 hours. That's no use just sitting idle. Your wifes phone lasts 48 hours? No way what you claim is possible.
