Today Google launched in-app subscription support for apps on their Play Market. Developers now have the options to add subscriptions to their apps and have them billed entirely through the Play Store. Setting up the new subscription service should be relatively simple for developers, all that's required is to set a price and billing period, then the subscription options will be available for users to select in the Play Store. Along with the ability to have subscriptions, developers can now utilize a web based API that allows for authentication and validation (DRM), but also gives more options for cross-platform use. The new billing options have a lot of potential, not only in the gaming market but also for subscription based publications. With in-app billing, carrier billing, and now in-app subscription services, Google has given both developers and users multiple options when it comes to billing.
