Assistant just showed up on my S6 last night. Kinda cool I guess; mostly just an extension to Google Now. The only thing I'm wondering is how to access the cards that were shown by Google Now when I long-pressed the home button. I thought those were kinda handy. I know tapping the Google search bar will bring them up but is there another way?
Ah, of course! I always forget about those widgets lately. Which one are you using? I can't seem to find a "Google Now" widget in my list...or even a "Now" widget.
Edit: Nevermind; I didn't realize they were grouped. I found one. Thanks!!
OK, what am I missing here? What is the fuss over Assistant and why do some folks need it now? It seems to be just a replacement for Google Now On Tap. I open it and it instantly asks me to train my voice to say OK Google? What? I thought it was a replacement for the Google app? I have Moto Voice trained to a custom launch phrase, my watch listens for OK Google and my Home listens for OK Google. Now the new Assistant wants me to train my voice again. And from what I've read once you do that it causes issues with the always listening Moto Voice functionality. When it does work, one launch phrase opens Google Now and another opens Google Assistant? That's kind of confusing Google. One app to do it all is what we need, in my opinion.
I turned off Moto to try this. Nice that it can finally read news to you. Something I've been using Alexa for every morning while getting ready for work. Annoyed me Google Couldn't do that before. The "killer feature" is supposed to be, I'll call it continuity. I can say "Where is Cleveland Browns Stadium". She shows me where First Energy Stadium is. I can they say "Navigate there" and she will know I meant the thing I asked about in the last question.

OK, I can see that as useful. So it's basically Google Home on our phones? That's the way Home works...She can have a continuous conversation without always saying OK Google. Since I already have a Home I'm sticking with Moto Voice and Google Now for a while. Thanks for the clarification Pere! [emoji106]
Just tried the same thing with Moto Voice (Google Now) Pere. With my phone locked, screen off and a few feet away. Google now read me the list of actors. I guess the main difference is, with Assistant you can keep asking questions related to the first question. With Google Now she stops listening as soon as the first answer is read aloud.
Ugh, I don't like it. I want my long press on the home button to just launch Google like I was used to. I don't need to speak my questions, I type fast enough. I want my cards back, dang it!
Is the Google Now Launcher dead? I used that forever before I got my Pixel with the Pixel Launcher. Both put your GN cards on the far left homescreen. No need to tap or hold anything. Just swipe over.
My Cards are still available if I open the Google app. But they don't show up in the Assistant screen. Seems like two completely different apps to me, Assistant doesn't seem to be a replacement for Google Now, at least not yet.
