Why waste the courts' time if the ITC has authority to overturn and even send it back to the judge to re-consider something they deemed to be a violation? As bad as the patent system is, that's seriously messed up. And to top it all off, the POTUS has ultimate authority?!?

That's correct. Apparently the POTUS can override the ITC decision "for the good of the nation". He has 60 days to make his decision.
