Google Nav ?

While were at it, do you know of an apt. the will switch to track up?

Well, while we are on the subject that I wrote about, I thought I put it out again. I noticed that when the map is following me it's showing me going the opposite way. I thought I was crazy until someone else reported the same thing. This doesn't happen when I am in the Navigation mode, but when I am in just the map mode, and just want to be followed along, as what is being requested here. Anyone else having this problem as well?

Just to understand, you are not using the function to get you from point A to point B but just to give you an on-going map as if you put point A to point B (you don't want directions in other words). Or is the function you are looking for something different?

Basically, what I want is for it to follow my route as I'm driving, (as if I entered Point A/B) and auto-scroll the screen. As I said, I tried it this morning. I brought up Google Nav, selected Directions, then backed out of the directions entry screen without entering any data. The indicator (little blue pointer) would follow my position (very accurately, I might add), but the screen would not auto-scroll as the pointer reached the edge of the current screen. The pointer would just disappear off-screen and I would have to scroll the screen manually with my finger.

Currently no. You can do it in google maps. Open maps and select my location to find yourself and it'll follow you. It's not the same, but it's close.

Actually, as FuzzyBeard stated, it does work in Maps or Nav. Tried it last night, worked great. Thanks for all the responses. I knew I was missing something simple.

I did find that if I zoom in after selecting My Location, the pointer moves off screen. Apparently in relation to the original zoom setting? If I zoom in (2 steps, in my case) prior to selecting My Location, the pointer stays at the center of the screen and the map itself scrolls constantly. Pretty cool!

Am I missing something? How do you initiate navigation without telling to go somewhere. If I put it in "car" mode, press navigation and press back instead of an address, it just goes to the map. We're talking about the angled view, where you can see several streets ahead in the distance.

There is no "My Location" feature, that I can find if I have directions punched in.

I put my Droid in the car dock (window mount from VZW), the Car Home screen comes up, I tap the Navigation button. It comes up, asks for for Start and Destination points, I tap the back button (rather than entering info.). It goes back to the map, tap Menu, My Location. The pointer follows your position. There are no directions given (spoken or otherwise). If you read thru the thread, you should know this is exactly what I was looking to do to start with. Really no different than what you can do in Maps (as far as I know), other than Nav has the option of Night mode. I was never really looking to "navigate", per se.

You could just hit View Map and then choose My Location as well. If you add the My Location button (Menu->More->Labs) you don't need to access the menu.

There's just no 3D follow me map, as has been discussed many times prior. Another GPS nav app may offer that feature though.
