Google Now made available to ICS devices via Flashable zips!

Turns out it did install in my stock rooted s3. I didn't realize it was the Google app. I thought it would be called Google now. Also I thought it ran on the lock screen. It does launch and so far it's only showing me the weather. It won't let me add a sports team though.

Can this be installed using Safestrap? I downloaded the files and moved the zip to my sd card. Because safestrap won't let you install a zip from the sd card in "unsafe mode" I enabled "safe" mode and installed the file. I rebooted (still in safe mode) I got to the splash screen for safestrap, waited the 10 seconds and the screen went dark and would not start at all. I eventually was able to restart with the power and volume buttons pushed. I tried this several times with the same result. I disabled safestrap and rebooted with no problem. I can not find Google Now so it seems like it did not install. I'm on a rooted Razr Maxx on 6.16.215 Android Version 4.04. Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?

I tried installing it via safe strap on my bionic and it boot looped. I had to safe strap back to stock

It seems like safestrap may be the problem. I uninstalled safestrap. Using the 1.81 utility I installed bootstrap. How do I boot into bootstrap?

Update. Figured it out and installed Google now with no problem. Don't use safestrap

Yes. You have to have bootstrap. I don't think you can run bootstrap w/o root.

The only thing I'm getting so far is a red mic added when I search. Searches still all go directly to the web as they do previously, no interactive voice, and I'm not getting the Google Now homescreen that I've seen many people discussing nor any of the cards. I've tried installing the updated apks and the install runs, then just says Not installed at the end. That thread is a mess, but I'll just have to keep going through it.

Looks like I'm just going to be outback on this. I don't see any way that I could possibly clear the 30+MB of space required for this from the System partition.

I am now victorious. I ended up having to clear a lot of stuff out of system, but much of it was unneccessary anyway. Siri can die in a fiyah.

I just put it on my Rezound, and I like what I'm seeing.

For fun, I asked it "what's my name?" and it provided me with links for amnesia treatments.

I was wondering the same thing as I'm not rooted and tried downloading it on my Razr and it wouldn't download.

There's no way to flash it without being rooted. Stock recovery only allows for flashing update zips.

Are you sure? Rooting doesn't change the fact that your phone is still stock. Just means your phone is rooted. I thought you had to have a custom rom to flash this.
