Yes really. The N5 is $350 for a phone that functions very well. For those of us who are not slaves to our carrier, that is a good price point. The N6 is a nice phone, but most people do not want to pay $700 for a phone.
Yes, you are correct with the $700 dollars being a lot for a phone, and the N5 is a great phone. I often think about having a phone that will go out of spec sooner rather than later, so when I buy, I want to make sure I have something that was released within a 4 month window. Given the speed of technology, I want my device to be relevant longer, with updates, etc.

1) thanks, well said.
2) Phones are totally overkill in the hardware specs. You dont need a 805 or a 810 or a qhd 3d screen or a finger print scanner. Those are just essentially marketing ploys.
3) If your phone lays it's not the processor or the ram, it's the USELESS skin the OEM put on it...

I have to respectfully disagree. If your 2 year old phone is still running great and does everything you you need it to do that's great, but better hardware, more memory and higher quality screens will always play a major role in the smartphone world. It's not a "marketing ploy", its simply the normal progression of technology.
I didn't "need" to upgrade my S3 to an S5, but the improvement was absolutely noticeable in every area. The same could be said with my recent laptop and tv purchase.

S5 tap'n

We've had quad core phones for a while and they're just now truly optimized. My point is/was that hardware is far exceeded software. The one and only shortcoming in hardware is battery(s). They suck lol. Other than batteries, hardware is leaps and bounds past necessity to the point it growing to fast. The 810 is has too much horsepower for the thin phone chassis and it's governed for heat (like every other chip). Not saying I dont like all the nice hardware, Im just saying tech doesnt go obsolete like the TV commercials want ppl to believe so you go burn money every year. But whatever, let I said in the other thread Im moving to Atlantis with the telekinetic projectors...

I did a factory reset on my Tab 1 a few months back and it's as snappy and zippy as my Note8 and Note4. The only thing sluggish on it is the Play Store. Every time I update any apps it turns into a picture frame for a couple of minutes as it installs the update. Other than that it's still plenty relevant
I'd like to see a brick and mortar store for no other reason than not having to rely on my carrier for any help I need on my Android devices. They wouldn't have to sell just Nexus devices. They could pick the flagship models of any manufacturer on several carriers to sell along side Nexus devices. Basically a Best Buy Mobile but better trained employees.
