Google Voice?

Howdy, I am a newbie and proud owner of a Droid. I downloaded the google voice app. I have a gmail account and when I try to use the google voice app it asks me to sign in and I do it then tells me that I am not subscribed and that I do not have a google voice account. How do I get one?

If I'm not mistaken, google voice accounts are currently by invitation. Login to google and request an invitation.
