This was actually the easiest way.

Found some on eBay. I bought one for 1.99 (sure they're free, but I'm impatient), and the link to sign up was in my gmail nearly as quickly as I clicked the "pay" button.

Seriously Guys....
There seems to be no one responding to all of the requests to sign up. I put a request here myself last week. The easiest thing to do is go to Ebay and find a "buy now" link for an account invitation. I paid $2.00 and had it set up in about 2 minutes after hitting Pay Now. If you don't mind waiting awhile (maybe a long while), then just sign up at Google. Otherwise, Ebay seems to be your best bet at the moment.
Admins, would it be better to put a stickied, no reply thread about Google Voice rather than the never-ending "add me" posts to this thread?
