If there was a 'share location' option on Google Maps it'd be simple.
There is a 'share location' option in GPS Status, however. You get to choose SMS or email (plus clipboard & QR code). So, share your location with yourself. This will show up as a clickable link in either SMS or email. Click the link and the map appears. Tap the text bubble and you're presented with the options to Get Directions or Navigate. Away you go!
GPS Status is free in the marketplace and also lets you see your speed, how many sats your currently tracking, etc.
