Could be. If they can't fix the gap, I would think not many would want it either. Dirt, water, etc. I know it's not water proof but I really like the water resistant feature.
Once OEM replacement parts come out, it'l be easy to add the plastic surround/chassis, battery, and back cover to our RAZRs from the Maxx. That'll make it a full Maxx, though it'll take a little bit more work than simply swapping the battery and back. Still, it ought to be very doable.
Motorola, making the OEM upgrade to anyone having paid the orig cost at shopping plus would be better. It would keep the peeps from buying the OG Razr at its now discounted price a and getting over on the upgrade?
Just a thought... MOTOROLA!
You know it! I have maintained from the first announcement of the MAXX that it's just a different back and battery. This guy proved I was mostly right. It seems there's two other minor differences. Apparently the. SIM and SD door is affixed to the chassis rather than the back. That's something I overlooked when I had mime apart. Obviously the door is larger but I thought it would be all one assembly. The other difference is some additional plastic to fill in the empty space created by the larger back & battery combination. No big deal there.
I wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure some solutions are already in the works. Just judging by the reaction from existing razor owners when the maxx was introduced, coupled with the tremendous reviews and massive amounts of interest for the maxx itself, I'm sure we'll see some type of a system that will work for us.
Just think, once the solution is available we'll be able to say we got the MAXX 3 months early!
