Handcent Users - Weigh-in please...

I was a handcent fan through amd through until I tried gosms. I don't remember what it is I like so much better about gosms but every time I try andcent, I quickly go back to gosms.

I've been a huge handsent fan from the beginning... I've since switched to go sms... And easily appreciate the differences... For now I find our a much better experience! For what its worth, you might give it a try...

This is also me 100%. Never had any problems with GoSMS and I love their launcher but you can do so much more with Handcent. Also I haven't had any problems with it. dancedroid

I used GoSMS today and didn't like it. Seems a little too cutesy for my use. Didn't see how it is faster/more responsive than Handcent either. Maybe I am missing something?

Handcent all the way IMO ... nothing at all wrong ..

I've got one issue: I was a happy Handcent user on my OG Droid, but when I got my new Bionic, I noticed that background photos looked terrible. They're pixelated and super-low resolution, although the .jpg's themselves are all high quality. Has anyone else had this problem? And have you found a fix?

My solution was to move over to Go SMS Pro, and I've been entirely happy with it.

Actually you can customize GoSms to look exactly like handcent... You can choose bubble message strings or block message strings and go with any color you choose. Has pretty much the same features for customizing the appearance as handcent.

Getting back to one of my original questions, any Handcent users know how to assign your picture to the right side of the "bubble" conversations? Handcent always gets the pictures right for those people conversing with me, but my picture never displays. If I assign my picture in "Accounts" is still doesn't display, and worse yet, it becomes my freak'in wallpaper on my home screen!!

I just tried assigning a picture for my account picture and it did the same thing, made it my wallpaper. I'm going to try GOSMS after perusing this thread.

I just tried it as well, the first two times; i got the wallpaper and no account picture. Strange because I have never had that happen before. Wandered thru some other setting thinking i had overlooked something. Tried it again and it's now working fine. Don’t think i changed any setting at all. I have changed the account picture two or three times now and its working great. I think the update yesterday or today addressed something with the LCD functions

Got it to work. I needed to put the pix in the Gallery and BAM, it worked.

I was previously navigating to the picture using Astro, and that was the path that didn't work out.

nice, i use quickpic as my main picture gallery and wondered if that may have impact on handcent. glad you got it.

There's a setting for that. Look within the Handcent settings for notification, and you can enable or disable blinking.

There are so many settings in Handcent (GoSMS too) that you need to review them all to make sure they are right. Also, disable behaviors in the stock app so they don't conflict.

I've used Handcent forever and was extremely happy... until I bought my BIONIC. I had paid for the premium service to support the development but when I try to log into the Handcent services from the app, it tells me that user is registered on a different device. I was even thinking about renewing since I am nearly done with the previous subscription but figured it would just renew for my OG DROID. I've emailed support starting the first night of the BIONIC's release but have yet to hear back from them. So I've been using the "regular" version since... I think I'll give both Chompsms and GOsms a try now. I like GO Launcher, so maybe the SMS app will do it for me.
