Handscent vs GOSMS

How do you get rid of the stock app for the message limit? Has to be someway to have unlimited messages again.

The pop ups bug me, since they'll appear in the middle of whatever I'm trying to do and I have to do something to dismiss them before I can go back to it. I much prefer getting notifications in the status bar and and hearing who it's from without having to leave a full screen app for, say, an ESPN score update.

Thus the beauty of Android: you find them convenient, I find them irritating, and we can each set it to suit.

In settings you can disable the pop-up feature.

When I try to set my ringtone it asks if I want to use Android System or Handscent for this? Isnt handscent just for my texts?

My handscent seems to be stopping at 1000 messages per thread. I thought you could make it unlimited? Does handscent have a limit of messages per thread?

Open handcent, go into settings, application settings, then default messaging application. Set it to all (sms & mms)
See if that helps

I see that, what is SME and MMS? Not sure what that stands for is all. I also want to turn off the pop-up quick reply its annoying when I am in the middle of something.

SMS stands for short message service, which is the technical term for a regular text message. MMS stands for multimedia messaging service. MMS messages = picture/video/long text.
To disable the popup, go to Settings>Notification Settings>Enable popup and uncheck.

On droid4. How do you disable the vibrate mode notification for incoming handscent texts. I cant seem to have it not vibrate.

I have been using handcent since my first android which was at least two years ago. I am a big fan. Everything works well, online backup, good support, and they listen to their users and actually fix problems.

im usng go sms even how and what i did to stop pop-ing my sms massage at front of my screen it always do. thats the bad side of this appps i guez

I have both.

Go Launcher EX - GO Sms.
Any other launcher - Handcent.

Go Sms is better IMO simply there are more customization features then Handcent. Go Sms widgets can be themed. Go Sms has several types of widgets vs Handcent's one widget.
Go Sms has sending animations while Handcent is just a pop. There are more themes readily available for Go Sms although cannot be utilized any other launcher.
Go Sms just has alot more going on then it's competitors.

Go Sms > Handcent, Chomp Sms.

Does anyone know, is there an app, or setting in an app that when you receive a message, and your phone is asleep, there's a popup but the lockscreen does not come on. It only shows the popup. I am currently using Handscent, but I am willing to change if anyone knows of one. Thanks

You want the pop-up but don't want the screen to come on? Right?
