Hard reset w/o losing your photos and other videos on the Maxx

I read in another blog(different website) that someone did a hard reset and did not check the box under the privacy settings that say to wipe internal storage of phone. Is this true, regarding this method of resetting the phone. He didn't lose photos or videos on the phone and during the reset process his phone went right in and downloaded all his apps for him. Is this a proven method to reset the phone after getting ICS? Or is there another method to do a hard reset w/o losing photos and videos on the phone? Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, as long as you don't check the box to wipe internal storage, it will remain untouched. Still, some are risk averse and will move those items of importance to the external SD Card, and as a further precaution will remove the SDcard-ext before doing the restore.

I am typically risk averse so when doing a FDR, I Always backup phone logs (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...hu.CallLogBackupRestore&feature=search_result), SMS (https://play.google.com/store/apps/....SMSBackupRestore&feature=more_from_developer), and move all pics, videos and personal files to the SDCard-ext.

Good luck!

So I should remove the SD card prior to resetting the phone, is that a good way to ensure I don't lose anything from the card?
