That's a stumper for me.i can also go to those sites with no problems.

It seems like you already have tethering working, so as far as the sites not being able to connect you might have to un-install and then re-install tethering and make sure that you enable wifi-encryption this will tell the site that there is protection from your connection.
I hope this works for you I had the same problem with my Incredible and this worked for that phone,with my X2 it worked flawlessly and I have had no problems with wifi tethering I got mine from the google code site here Downloads - android-wifi-tether - Wireless Tether for Root Users - Google Project Hosting
