HELP!! Droid x won't boot past the droid logo

and i just like to say thanks to you guys for your help. Im going to try to do the sbf thing. I looked through the guide and it looks real complicated with all the different steps. But i will definitely give it a try. I was really just going into the nearest verizon store, which is a actually a place called wireless zone and hope to ask a representative that didnt know much about rooting to get me a new phone lol.

Im just outside of DC... Thats a hike for an SBF.. Like I said before if you rooted your phone you should be able to follow the SBF guidelines... Post on to the forum that I sent you if you have problems someone on their will help you if you get stuck..

Lol, I'm in Colorado... he'd be better off dropping his Droid in water than bringing it here for an sbf hehe. ***note I am not suggesting in any way, shape, or form that you intentionally ruin your phone as that constitutes fraud***

also one more thing. How do i know which bootloader version i have? i purchased my phone earlier this month. I read that it can seriously screw up the phone if i use the wrong one.

Jjj, sbf looks harder than it really is. Basically when you have your phone connected to rsdlite its a simple few clicks to get the files flashing, then you let the program run its course and presto you have saved your phone.

If you get the 2.3.20 full sbf it will bring you to the newest version.

Basically you can upgrade from an old bootloader to the latest version through sbf but if your running 30.04 and try to use say 30.02 yeah it will screw up the phone.

Here is a video that might help you out.... If you did the OTA update to 2.3.340 you should be on bootloader 30.04.. Please let me know how this turns out for you...

Just FYI that is NOT MY VIDEO and I take NO CREDIT for it whatsoever... He pretty much goes through the steps on what you will need to do.. Just like CD95YJ says... Its easier than what it looks..

Follow that, make sure to flash the 2.3.340 system only file after flashing the 2.3.320 full sbf. The 2.3.320 file was experimental so if you leave it on 2.3.320 you wont get any future ota updates including gingerbread when its released.

Trust me, I know how you feel... I feaked out after paying retail for my D1 and having it bootloop. SBF, once you know how to do it, and what you can recover from makes rooting and ROMing so much easier.

what if i didnt do the ota update to 2.3? the last time i checked my phone said there were no updates. So should i be on bootloader 30.02 since my phone was on 2.2.1 when it died on me?

Your fine if you were on the old bootloader, the 2.3.320 sbf will update it to 30.04 with no issues. I used the 2.3.320 sbf running the 30.02 bootloader.

Although, didn't the 2.3.320 sbf use the wrong kernel build? We can get you completely up to stock if that is the case, but lets get you running again first.
