Yeah, you need root access to get rid of root access. Gotta love it.

Try force closing the terminal emulator and doing it again. If that doesn't work then do a reboot

When you rerooted with z4root this last time did you permanent root or temp root?

I went through this after I lost root during an ota, sbf was the easy way to repair as I lost recovery also.
