Hi and thanks in advance for any help you could offer

We have owned droids since they first came out. We recently purchased a used Droid X2. The operating system on it is 4.0.4 Ice cream sandwich. Verizon tells me that OS isn't offered on this phone. Having a lot of freeze up problems etc....any ideas on what we can do??? Thanks!:)

Welcome to Droid Forums Scott and Linda. It sounds like you guys bought a rooted phone that someone has installed that software on, which is why VZW most likely did not help you guys out.

What I would try first is going ahead and doing a factory data reset, if you have not already done so that is. It will erase all data, settings, and downloaded apps from the phone but will remain on 4.0.4 like it is now. If that does not work there is another option (I believe) but I have not dealt with Motorola phones in some time and would need to defer to someone else at that point.

Let me know how you make out and if need be we will steer you in the right direction, or to the right people.

thanks for the nice welcome guys! Tried the factory reset and still having the same issues. Would welcome any and all help available...thanks again!

...although we have had several Motorola Droids, rooting is new to us. Guess we're old school, stick to the owners maual types and not very tech savvy! lol

I know you said above freezing, etc, but can you describe it a little better. That was pretty fast for them to crop back up after just doing a reset.

Just a heads up but I am going to be heading out to work so I will not be around, hopefully someone can step in and try to continue for me.

the phone will just not react to any touch or control. It will not even power off with the power button. I have had to remove the battery and replace it and then the phone will restart.

If the problems are that severe then it may be a hardware problem and I am not sure how much we can do honestly.

Welcome to the site. Sounds like you may have found out why the original owner parted with the phone. Hope someone can help you to restore it to good working condition. DancingNexus
