Honest opinions needed on dna...

Major negative of non-removable batteries is that the CIA | NSA can actively listen to your conversations when you are off the phone. The only real way to completely ensure private conversation is to do a battery pull. Doing no wrong - don't worry. Battery holds up. Bring a charger.

Plus they will know where you are from internal GPS. Nice to know you're never alone.....

That's just one of a dozen ways you can be tracked. Lol Can I borrow your tin-foil hat? Lol

I don't like to be married to a charger.. RULE #1 for me.. I see so many people with iPhone connecting everywhere.. Same with some friends had original RAZR.. I'm like get rid of that phone. You charge more than you use it.. Nexus phone is smooth I loved the experience then after constantly looking for new kernels /Roms to make it last longer I gave up.. I'm power user.. No charger except car is what I want..
DNA is solid for sure.. I played with it plenty and came away impressed.. I just don't like to be forced to cloud service.. And I like a spare battery on the go.. Just my. 02....

I use a 3k mA power pack if I need it.

@ bkdodger - what phone do you like | recommend? Note2/Galaxy Nexus?

If.. And I know plenty people can't get over the size.. Note 2.. Best phone IMO.. You will find a few people that say I don't like the phone..the rest won't keep bc of size.. It does things right IMO.. S4 I like the feel but only played with it several times.. Maxx HD was solid.. I test drove the phone for return period.. Some complain on camera.. It's a workhorse phone but I tested with ICS so not sure on JB..
DNA definitely is snappy.. Screen.. It would be top phone but I can't get over the two things.. Even if battery was Ok and you charged.. Why why no sd card.. Why.... Lol

The DNA is a great phone. I agree with the comments about battery and storage. I will say that battery life is pretty good. I can make it a full work day without charging if I have to though. I would like to have the option of using yr sd card but I have learned to use cloud storage from Google, Dropbox, Flickr and other services.

The DNA is so fast, camera is good and the screen is still one of the best out there.

I picked the dna up for free a couple weeks ago and you can still get it for $50. It's a good buy in my opinion.

Thanks for the replies, i have talked myself into holding off for a while bc i dont want to give up my unlimited data

I wouldn't give up unlimited data if you use a lot. I would just buy a nice used one, or even new that you get a deal on. I would hold off though until later into the summer. I absolutely love my DNA, but I bought it months ago. If I had to make a decision today I would wait because if a phone is six months old, you're buying a dinosaur these days in dog/smartphone years.

My Thoughts on Unlimited Data

The last Verizon 2 year contract with unlimited wireless data was issued June 27, 2012. On June 28,2014, surely Verizon has no contracts to honor - just people with month to month unlimited data - all can be cut off without notice.

I looked at my "unlimited data" use / month and saw it was very little: I use wifi at home/work. When the Verizon "Free" Droid DNA offer came by during the middle of May 2013, I jumped on it. Free phone worth 600.00 if I bought it at full retail. Free activation. Free shipping.

Doing the math: dividing 600.00 / 24 months (life of 2 year contract) = 25.00 / month. I'm now on the 2 GB Limit plan. Each gig over limit costs 10.00. I can go 2 GB over my limit = 20.00 and Verizon is still buying me my phone. 25.00 - 20.00 = 5.00.

If I watched tons of YouTube and listened 24/7/365 to online radio on 4G network - then I'd be racking up 20 to 50 GB / data usage month. It'd make sense to keep unlimited wireless data.

Bottom Line: The DNA hits a home run. It does the job. I like Fast. Power. No waiting. If anything - this is a good dinosaur. FREE.

Minor negatives: Non-removable battery | internal only SD Card. Rooted phones can organize permissions. Miss that feature from my Original Droid with Bugless Beast 6.2.1 by Peter Alfonso. Photos on the DNA must be tapped to "focus" the subject. Can't delete Verizon apps.

My upgarde is just under two weeks away. I love the DNA, but am having some drawbacks on it after reading so many people are having the "No Sim Card" error. has this issue been fixed by OTA updates? Or is it something I will hope that doesn't happen to me? And if it does is getting a new sim card the way to 100% completely cure this problem?? I don't want a phone that will come with a bug still inside it. I am tired of having a phone that is constantly having issues like I am with my X2.

I have had the phone since February. I had a SIM card error 3 times before the supposed fix update. I've had it 4 times since. I noticed it happen twice when switching from 4G to WiFi. Don't know if its a correlation or not. Anyhow, one time I got the error during a phone call. Naturally it cut out and when I looked at the screen (saying WTF) I noticed the SIM card error symbol but immediately saw the phone notify me that it was preparing the SIM card. It fixed itself. I was excited to think that the update may not be a fix but at least it will "reboot" the SIM card when the error happens. Alas, a few days ago another SIM error and this one took a removal and reinsertion of the SIM card to fix it. I love the phone but HTC screwed up somewhere. I won't lie, its annoying but it doesn't happen enough to me, yet, where I want to chuck the phone at the wall. Hope it gets better or maybe HTC continues to try to fix it. I've described it like this before, its like a marriage, one day its bliss and the next I'm wondering what the hell I did to piss it off.....;-)

I've had mine a month. Besides all the other features that have been mentioned, the phone is the closest to a land line that I've ever had.
I can actually hear people and they can hear me.

It doesn't matter how long you wait...what ever phone you get; it will be outdated in 3 to 6 months. I love my dna. It's sleek, fast, beautiful, fits good in the hand and the battery on mine is great. I bought an htc portable charger (looks like a huge battery) in case the phone needed a charge while I was out all day and I haven't had to use it once. The phone is just sleek. I don't care how outdated it is I'm keeping mine. Maybe in 2 years when I update again there might be a better phone but it will just look like what I got now. I don't need a bigger screen and the dna has everything I want. The camera and camcorder are incredible...I really couldn't believe it when I took my first pic.

I was on the unlimited plan and freaked out when I had to go on the share everything with 6 gb due to changing phones. Turns out I only use about 4 to 5 a month anyway. We are creatures of immediate gratification. We want what we see now. I'm content; no, I"m super stoked with my dna. When I took the dna out of the box I knew immediately that it was the phone for me...it looks that good and performs better. The grass is not always greener on the other side and all that... Find a good phone and be happy.

I just got the DNA this weekend and I am amazed at how great it is. Blazing fast, battery has been decent, and amazing resolution. The only complaint I have is where the charging port is located. Other than that it is perfect. Can't believe I got it for free!!

Got my DNA last week. Battery life is 100% adequate for my needs and that's the worst thing I have to say about this phone... LOL. The Snapdragon S4 Pro screams. The 1080p screen is as crisp as they come! Jelly Bean, 2 GB RAM, this thing is a beast!! dancedroid I love this phone! The fact that it's months old already just makes it that much more amazing that (IMO) it still competes with all the new phones out there. Also build quality and design are outstanding as well. Highly recommended!!! dancedroid

I have had my DNA now for a week. I LOVE this phone. The screen is absolutely beautiful, the speed if super fast, and the battery life is perfect for my needs. Yesterday was the only day that I had to put the phone on the charger at around 7 pm. I was texting A LOT with my brother yesterday, with my normal use of email and news apps (maybe a couple hours worth of email and news total for the day). But I was sending about and receiving 4 text an hour yesterday all day long. But the battery held up just fine. It went a full 12 hours without needing to be charged. So, in my book, the battery life is just right for people who moderately use their phones for emails, texts, and looking at news. So, far I would highly recommend this phone to anyone.
