That's what's weird, clockwork is flashed and I can boot to clockwork via Rom manager. But when using hboot it automatically loads the pg.zip. I renamed the pg.zip to .zip.bak and booted, it checked for the pg.zip then put me back to the main hboot screen and now I can use the options via hboot.

Naming the PG05IMG.zip to .zip.bak is effectively the same as deleting it since the Android system will no longer read it as an update.zip file. You must have missed the step in the rooting process where you delete the .zip from your card. You can do that now if you want, but as I said before, renaming it will effectively do the same thing.
