How do update Droid software?

My bf says on his phone, when he uses google talk, he can press a microphone button (on virtual screen where the comma is) and it will type everything he says. He says it is the coolest thing. How do I get this on my phone?

That's a feature of the recent 2.1 update. You'll get the same update. May just take a few days, as it is currently rolling out to users somewhat randomly.
