Hi all, I am in the market for a new Droid, and was wondering how 3G compared to 4G compared to WIFI. The reason I ask is a HUGE majority of the time I would be using data, would be at home, with my WIFI connection. If it is pretty similar, I might just wind up getting something a little cheaper, like the Incredible 2 or the Droid X 2 when it comes out.

My 4G runs 12-25 mb per second. My home WiFi is around 9-10. 4G is faster in my case.

I was able to access 4G when visiting a city that had it, and I was surprised with how fast it was. It was "home network WiFi" fast. Too bad it'll be FOREVER before 4G is all over the place. It'll take VZW a lot longer then they are telling people in the stores (by the end of this year). End of 2012 I bet. At least for my area.

I get around 18-20 MB down in Cincinnati. My Wi-Fi is 20 MB down (via Cincinnati Bell FiOptics), so it's a bit of a wash.

Hey! Cincy is where I was when accessing 4G for the first time ever! LOL! It might be a wash, but I'll take 4G over 3G or WORSE (Which is what I get half the time when not on WiFi).

4G is faster than my WiFi and more stable when I'm on the other side of my house.

This is really all going to depend on your connection speed with your ISP.

Well lets see...

Everyone's WIFI is XXX mps, and everyones 4g is XXX mps. So therefore...

It depends on your WIFI speed. You could be using satelite internet, cable company, phone company, DSL, or any number of internet providers that run at very different speeds.

most wifi is around 20 down (well in NY at least) so its about the same.....last time i was in a vw store lte on thunderbolt hit 30 and today i was there and it didnt break 12

pretty lame though you can pay 29.99 for LTE at 30 and ISP's will charge you out the a**hole for barely 20

yeah, but lag sucks...

my 40/20 connection in s. Texas rocks... Plus I dont have 4g where I live... but just wait until all these phones start using 4g speeds.. your speed will slow to half of what you are getting now because right now nobody is on it...

do you regularly avg 40 or is it intermittent....i have a boost package that puts my from 20 to 30 but rarely see those speeds......Up on the other hand is always max

I average over 40mbit... I consistantly see 6mb/sec downloads... granted im faster than 80% of the web with this speed, and I can tell when Im downloading something from a slower connection. But Torrenting is awesome... but I mostly use the upspeed for my mail servers...

Gold Star for coneys, Skyline for 3-ways, Montgomery Inn for barbecue. That's one good thing about living in Cincy...
